Facial and Body Anti Aging Treatments

By: Marianna Pells

There are now many options when it comes to cosmetic anti aging treatments. Cosmetic anti aging treatments could be surgical or natural. Skin resurfacing peels are surgical treatments that include chemical and laser peels. Non-surgical treatments now include microdermabrasion and herbal skin remedies.

Laser Peel Procedure:

Laser peels involve applying a carbon dioxide laser on the skin. What the laser does is remove fine lines, wrinkles and other types of damage. It removes damaged skin layer by layer. The effects of the treatment are less visible wrinkles, scars and dull patches. Although the procedure aims at removing wrinkles on the sides of the mouth and eyelids, it's also effective on other parts of the face and body.

There are still side effects that occur, particularly in brown, black and olive skin types. As exact as it can be, individuals with those skin types can still end up with uneven skin tones after the procedure. In severe cases, there may be bleeding and bruising.

Chemical Peel Treatment:

The chemical peel procedure aims at removing wrinkles, uneven skin tone and acne. The surgeon uses acids that steadily shed layers of skin until a more buffed-up appearance is achieved.

Alphahydroxy acid and the chemical Phenol are used in chemical peel treatments. Alphahydroxy acid is a fruit acid that is considered the gentlest in skin peel treatments. Phenol is a less gentle ingredient that targets wrinkles and sun-damaged skin that are more prominent. In some cases, scarring on the neck and body may occur after treatment.

Microdermabrasion procedure:

Microdermabrasion involves using milder components. You can easily ask for a microdermabrasion treatment in spas, clinics and shops where it can be purchased over the counter. The procedure involves the scrubbing of top skin layers. Results are unclogged pores, speedy skin cell turnover, reduced acne and minimized scars.

One may apply crystals or crystal-free treatment on the skin. A microdermabrasion procedure can be rather abrasive, depending on the hardness, abrasiveness and type of crystals used. For example, sensitive skin can react negatively towards aluminum-oxide crystals. Thus, there is always some risk, as with most kinds of treatments. An individual undergoing microdermabrasion treatment may need to be treated every other week or every 6 weeks if he/she would like to maintain youthful skin.

Organic Skin Care Treatment:

Natural skin care can be achieved at home and can have long-term benefits without the cost. Using natural ingredients can alleviate sun damage and wrinkling skin. Organic cosmetic anti aging treatments include essential oils, body butters and carrier oils. Essential oils may derive from tea tree, lemongrass, peppermint, jojoba and lavender.

If you've heard about housewives' tales regarding organic skin treatments you've probably already heard about the effects of honey and shea butter. Honey is filled with antioxidants that prevent the skin from becoming parched and dry. Shea butter, a clinically safe anti aging constituent, effectively cares for skin suffering from dermatitis, stretch marks and eczema.

If an organic skin care treatment has more than 50% organic components it is one of the best choices you have in the market.
