Simple Steps Fight Acne

By: Jeff Foster..

Dirt does not cause acne. That is one of the very basic concepts that most acne sufferers need to accept. Keeping the face clean will help to make acne outbreaks happen less frequently and be less severe when they do happen but the fact that your face gets dirty is not the cause of acne.

Since keeping the face clean is especially important for those who struggle with acne, let's take a look at a few cleansing tips that you should follow in order to ensure that you are properly cleaning your face and giving your skin the best chance against acne.

1.Wash your hands first. Is that surprising? It shouldn't be. Your hands are about to come in contact with your face. The first thing you need to do is scrub your hands and be sure that your nails are clean as well.

Your hair contains natural oils and other materials that you do not want to have come in contact with your face as you clean it. Pull your hair firmly back and keep it out of the way. Use a band or a shower cap if necessary.

3.Wet your face with warm (not hot) water and apply the soap or facial cleansing product as directed on the packaging. Never use more or less of the product than is recommended.

When applying the cleanser, use only your fingertips to work the cleanser into your face. Don't use a wash cloth. Using a circular motion be sure to work your way all the way up to your hairline. You should pay particular attention to any of the problem acne areas that you have on your face. Remember, hard scrubbing is counterproductive to the cause... use even gentle strokes.

Upon completion, rinse off your face very thoroughly with warm water. You want to make sure that you get all of the cleanser washed off of your face.

To dry off your face you will want to use a gentle patting action with a clean, soft towel. Don't rub your face to dry it and never use the same towel twice between washings.

Before you apply any type of acne medication or moisturizers, make sure that you allow your face to air dry completely (usually about 15 minutes).

Stay on top of your cleaning routine and follow these few simple rules of the road and you'll be on your way to clearer skin.
